Distilled Harmony

Okay, so we know we had a music post for the day already, but this one cannot wait. If you are a Northeastern student and want to see the Christmas Tree Lighting tonight, there will be our very own Choir group Distilled Harmony singing there tonight!

Front Page, born Karl Dunkley, a recent NU graduate has been actively pursuing a career in the music industry as a rapper. After completing a co-op at a major record label, Front Page has made connections that will lead him to success and to fame.

He's got some really great tracks, with a lot of passion and drive to make it in this very competitive industry.

Husky I+ Challenge Demo Night

Tomorrow night from 6-9 P.M on the 4th Floor in Dodge Hall, Northeastern's Entrepreneur Club will be hosting the Husky I+ Challenge (HIC) Demo night. During this time, Northeastern students will be showcasing their start-up businesses by pitching their creations in a science fair style setup. There will be four separate awards totaling $2,500 which are based on:
  • Pitch is ear-catching and effective, clearly explaining the problem, solution and value
  • Prototype or model that depicts the value of the product or service
  • Business model is logical and well thought out
  • Audience Favorite! Awarded to the audiences favorite company.
If you would like to attend this event you need to sign up here! It isn't too late and there will be food and drinks served. We wish everyone presenting the best of luck and hope to post some of these future business ideas soon!

Evan Bartle



Evan Bartle, a Middler at Northeastern has always had a passion for music and is currently on Co-op in Burbank, CA at Rhino Independent, the licensing team for WMG and Rhino entertainment. He not only has a good ear for music but he also plays the Saxaphone and Guitar. During his spare time he helps run a blog, The Music Sandwich He also wants to start a radio show at Northeastern that will play top hits in the evening when everyone is getting ready to go out. Keep an eye out for Evan because his name is sure to pop up more and more when he returns in January.

NU Artist: Tha Jist

Tha Jist is a student out of Northeastern who is pursuing a career in rap. The recent winner of the BMC showcase performed at the Boston Music Conference and went home with the award for best overall performance.

Making Connections with Ashkan Afkhami

Cool Co-Op: Paul Marvin

Paul Marvin, middler, is currently on a very interesting co-op in NYC. He is working for EMI music publishing, learning a lot about the legalities of the music industry, and how processing the music works behind the scenes. Paul works in the TV/film/commercial deptartment, mainly working with synchronized licenses. He has also started a music blog called "The Music Sandwich"

Andrew Zenn Films

Andrew Zenn is a student at Northeastern majoring in Marketing and Communications who is pursuing a career as a feature film director. When he's not in class you can find him directing short films, music videos, and television commercials which can all be found on his website. He has recently directed a commercial that has been entered into the Doritos Crash the Superbowl contest and can be seen HERE. Njabini Apparel (First Charity Post)

Njabini Apparel is a young non-profit social venture founded by
Northeastern business student Michael Behan:

Making Moves from BU to NU

So although Making Moves is based out of an office run by a BU alum, our very own Northeastern middler, Julian Jung is a star on quickly spreading online reality series. Making Moves is designed to help other young entrepreneurs and inspire them to follow their passions. The show will be on over 20 networks at many universities and other outlets as well.

First Music Post

While you're still being introduced to the site, here is a breakdown of how the site will work:


Each blogger will be focused on a specific genre of posts. The genres are not specific, allowing for a lot of variation in posts, and posts will mainly include topics like posting New songs on campus by NU student artists, cool student co-ops, community service or charity work, and new student-run ventures.

Today's music shout out is to an artist that goes by the name of G-Riot. Born Oumar Sow, G-Riot is a senior finance major at Northeastern. He has opened for artists such as Juelz Santana, Wale, Big Sean, and Curren$y and will be performing his hit single "Moony" on the BET network on television in early 2011.
